Last Day of School.....

Hard to believe that last week marked the end of the girls first year of pre-school.  The girls have loved going to school this year.  I truly hope their love of learning continues well into the future.  We plan on at least one more full year of pre-school before evaluating whether or not the will be ready for kindergarten.  Man how time flies!!  I bawled like a baby on their first day of pre-school, I can't imagine what kindergarten will be like!  :-)

The girls had some phenomenal teachers this year.  We are definitely going to miss them next year!

What will they be???

In the last month or so, Alexis has decided that it is important for her to decide her career path.

She has gone from wanting to be a nurse like Aunt Paula, to wanting to be a girl cop after our visit to the police station.

Then she wanted to be a Princess like the princesses at the party.

Then she wanted to be a Carnie.  She wanted to be able to run the Ferris wheel like the one we rode a week or so ago.

After tagging along with me during a trip to the vet's office.....She now wants to be a cat doctor.

On a side note:  Yes, that is our cat Jynxie laying on the exam table.  She is fine.  We just had to take her in for a glucose monitoring test.  Her diabetes seems to be under control for now.  I never would of thought that I would be one of those crazy cat ladies, giving my cat insulin shots!  :-)

Addison doesn't talk much about what she wants to be, but over the weekend she also mentioned wanting to be a "cat doctor".  She's got a knack for animals, she really does.  Jynxie will tolerate just about anything that Addison does to her.  It's very strange that Addison can tackle Jynx, hug her, dress her up and she will just lay there and take it.   But when Alexis tries to "play" with her so wants no part of it.

See, this cat will tolerate anything Addison does to her.....even dressing her up in jewels.  :-)

500 Festival Kids Day.....

A little over a week ago now, on Saturday, May 11th, 2013 (still playing catch up), we took the girls downtown to the Indy 500 Festival Kids Day.  Another great event hosted by this town!  The weather started off not so great.  It was chilly and overcast and we were all in winter coats.  Boo!   But by the end of the day a long-sleeved shirt was sufficient.

I will let the picture do the explaining:

Waiting in line to ride the Ferris wheel.  Surprisingly, the girls have never been on a large Ferris wheel and were super excited about riding it.

Their smiles and facial expressions during our ride were priceless!  Addison grinned from ear to ear the entire time.  Alexis thought it was pretty hysterical when we got stopped at the top.

This was my attempt to get a photo of the large monument on the circle in downtown Indianapolis.  Not great, but hey, I was on a moving Ferris wheel at the time.

After our ride....  If you look closely, you can see my little kiddos in the bottom mid-right of the photo.

Getting their faces painted.  They were so excited to do this that they didn't mind waiting in line for over twenty minutes.

My little bunny!

My cute butterfly!

In front of an Indy car they had on display.  Alexis REALLY wanted to get into this car.  She actually got yelled at by one of the "guards" of the car.

My favorite photo of the day!!  Could they be any cuter?

After the festival we stopped off at Steak N Shake for a little dinner.  Gotta love kids eat free!!!  Amazing how they always clean their plate when ice cream is involved!  :-)

Another great day!!

Pour Painting.....

I was inspired by this post HERE  and this post HERE to try some pour painting with my kiddos.

Since I happened to be off work last Friday because of the girl's mother's day program, we decided to give it a try in the afternoon.  I wanted to be sure exactly what I was getting into, so I tried the first one myself.  I started on the front porch, but quickly moved into the garage after the bugs kept flying into my paint.

So easy to do!  My suggestions.....#1....Make sure you prop your pot up onto something.  We used old milk jugs and other old containers I found in the garage.  This helps your paint "flow" a little quicker.  #2.  Make sure wherever you plan on doing your project isn't going to be needed for several days.  The paint takes forever to dry.  Once you finish your pots you don't want to move them until they are completely dry.  #3....Less is More!!!  I should of read more of the comments on the afore mentioned blogs.  If I would of, I would have known this concept.

Here are a few pictures of our pots.  I didn't get photos of the girls "painting", as I was too busy trying to keep the chaos in order.  Two kids + Paint=  large messes!!!

If you decide to try it, let me know!  Would love to see your finished products!!

Mother's Day 2013.....

The girl's school had an adorable "Mother's Tea" last Friday, May 10th, 2013 for all the Mom's.  They sang a few songs and then we had "tea" and strawberry shortcake.  It was so cute.  I'm kind of bummed that I neglected to take a bunch of photos but I was really trying to focus on my kiddos and how blessed I am to be their Mommy!

I was not real happy that I couldn't see my kiddos.  They were blocked by a really tall kiddo from another class.

Love this photo of them.  Instead of looking at the camera, they are both glaring at each other out of the corner of their eye.

They made me super cute little bags with their hand prints on them in the design of a flower.  They also had these laminated cards on the table.  I found their responses fairly comical....

Hope all the Mom's out there had a great Mother's Day!!!

Princess Party....

Still playing catch up here.  We have been so busy lately, thus leaving little time for this here "ol blog.  But, I gotta say.....We are absolutely loving the month of May here in Indiana.   For those of you who are unaware, the Indianapolis 500 in May pretty much takes precedence over everything in this town.  We are trying to soak in all the activities as well as make memories with the girls.

Last Wednesday, May 8th, 2013.....The girls attended a princess party with some of the 500 festival princesses.  They were in heaven and could not have been more excited to dress up in their own princess dresses.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the event:

So bummed this one turned out blurry...

And of course, What princess party wouldn't be complete without a bowl of ice cream afterwards???

Police Station Open House....

Last Saturday as I was taking the girls to story time at the library, I noticed that our local police station was having an open house later in the day. (The police station is next to the library)  I thought this would be a fun activity for the girls, plus we also needed to get their "Kid ID Card" made.  I've been meaning to get their cards done for awhile, but it seems like the only time it is available is during the week, and I'm working.

After the library we ran home, had some lunch, grabbed Terry and headed over to the police station.  Terry wasn't very hip on the idea of going.  He thought for sure the kids would be bored out of their mind.  To his surprise, all four of us had a great time.  We spent almost three hours touring the police station, sitting in the police cars, watching the dogs do attack demonstrations, and just having a great time.  What a fantastic event put on by the Fishers Police Station!   Here are a few photos:

Sitting in the police car.  The police officer told Addison she could honk the horn and turn on the lights.  She didn't believe him.  Alexis was all about turning on the lights and playing with the car.

Smiles all day!

The girls were very intrigued by the female police officer.  Alexis couldn't believe that girls could do that.  She now wants to be a policewoman when she grows up.

They loved watching the dogs.  Alexis got mad when they had to put the dog away.  This particular dog was pretty wound up after doing an attack demonstration.  For safety reasons, he needed a time out.

Both girls loved the motorcycles.
