Random October Post.....

So it's been awhile since I've posted.  We've had a busy October.  Between soccer practice, soccer games and all the makeup soccer games due to rain we've been a little crazy.  We've also been enjoying this unseasonably warm October and spending as much time outside as possible.  Here is a random hodge podge of what we've been up to.....

For Terry's 50th Birthday, the girls and I got him the "be the chef" experience at a local Japanese steakhouse.  Terry got to train with a hibachi chef and cook dinner for the entire family.  It was a really fun experience for all of us.

We are still on the hunt for the perfect little furry friend to add to our family....Haven't found the right fit yet.

More soccer pictures....

I really can't believe how good the girls are.  While I'm sure I am extremely bias, they are a million times better than they were last fall when they started playing.

There is a nursery just down the street from our house.  A few weeks ago they had a small fall festival.  We rode our bikes the mile down the street to attend.

Last weekend, we joined our neighbors and their two girls at a different fall festival (Oktoberfest).  The girls had a blast getting their faces painted, playing with farm animals and taking some horse rides.

Love that my kids are so into cooking.  Most nights I leave a list of what needs to be done for dinner.  Between the girls and Terry everything is ready to go when I get home.

My not so little helper.....

I love that Alexis loves to cook!  She is such a big help in the kitchen these days.  Over the weekend she peeled the potatoes to go with our roast.

No more cast....

On August 18th, 2016 Alexis finally got her cast off.  She was so excited.  Right now she only has to wear a small brace (that looks like a bowling glove) when she is active or playing soccer.  We also scheduled the surgery for her to have the rod removed from her arm over Christmas break.

Cast #3.....

On July 26th, 2016 we said goodbye to the big orange cast.  Alexis was thrilled to have this itchy cast taken off!!

Her arm was so disgusting.  This was while we were waiting for xray to come get her.

The bone is healing well, just not as quickly as the doctor had hoped.  So another month in a cast.  This one is at least a short one and doesn't go past her elbow.

Alexis opted for a pink and purple camo cast this time around.  Here's hoping this is the last one!!!

Puppy Love...

No, we did not get a dog.....yet!  We are in serious discussion about adding to our family with a little furry friend.  We just have to find the right match.  We randomly ended up with one kid a few nights ago and Addison asked to go walk around the pet store.  She fell in love with this little guy.  We are trying to agree on size, breed, etc.  All four of us have different opinions!

Cast #2...

On July 5th Alexis had her pink cast taken off and a new fancy orange "waterproof" one put on.  As with everything during this whole process she has been incredibly amazing.  Here are a few photos:

Cutting off the pink one.  She was so brave and the nurse did an amazing job of prepping her throughout the process.

Cast free for about 30 minutes and waiting for x-rays.

Alexis has loved looking at her x-rays.  Doc said the bone growth was not as good as he hoped but is definitely progressing.

Applying the waterproof underside of the cast.

On goes the orange...

And now we can swim, and bathe, and play in the sprinkler!!  Thankfully cast #1 was only on for two weeks.  This one has been amazing--allowing her to swim and do most of the activities that she wants to do in the summertime!

We go back on the 26th for another checkup and x-rays.  Doc said potentially she may have to have cast #3 placed depending on new bone growth.  Cast #3 would most likely not cover her entire arm and would potentially just go below the elbow.
