Out of the mouths of babes....

Over the past few weeks our cat Jynxie has become really lethargic and has just started acting weird.  Anyone who has met Jynx knows that this is not like her.  Jynx has always acted like more of a dog than a cat.  She used to meet me at the door when I came home from work and she would always be involved with our family activities.  But recently this is all Jynxie wants to do:

I finally made an appointment to take her to the vet to get checked out.  Last Saturday we found out that Jynxie is diabetic and needs insulin shots.  Jynx started her twice a day insulin shots this past Monday.  In just four days we can see a drastic improvement in her condition.  She has more energy, she is more playful and seems to be feeling better.  Terry and I have explained to the girls that Jynxie is sick and that Mommy has to give her a shot everyday to help her feel better.
So yesterday at the girls school they had a person from the department of natural resources visit.  This person brought a live turtle, bunny, snake and other animals for the kids to see and touch.  The DNR person asked each child if they had animals at home and if so what kind and what their name was.  The also asked if they had any family members or friends who have any pets other than cats or dogs.  Yesterday afternoon I get the following email from the girls teacher:

Mrs. Smith,

As you know the DNR visited our school today.  I have attached a few pictures of your girls touching some of the animals.  After group discussion regarding what pets each child may have at home, Mrs. W and I would like to inquire on the current status of your pet ownership.  Alexis told us that Mommy’s friend has a bird named Jupiter.  She also said that she used to have 4 fish at her house but they have recently gone to heaven.  Addison told us that you have a cat name jinxie.  She said that Mommy took the cat to the cat doctor last weekend because jinxie is sick.  But she then proceeded to tell us that yesterday you came home from work and shot the cat.  We just wanted to touch base and see if everything is ok with jinxie.

Enjoy your photos,

Mrs. S

Addison petting something....She is in the green and pink stripped shirt.
You can see the girls on the right.  Addison in green and pink and Alexis in the purple shirt.

And for those of you keeping track at home.....Yes, all four of the girls fish have gone to heaven!  They didn't really seem to care.

Waiting for Grandma to come....

Last weekend (President's Day weekend) Grandma and Grandpa came for a visit.

The girls were beyond excited for them to get here.  They set up camp in front of the door in anticipation of their arrival.

When Addison gets bored she sings....I heard her sitting at the door singing this song....

Waiting for Grandma to come...
Waiting for my Grandma to come...
My Grandma has one, two, three, four, five, six fingers....

Yeah, Grandma has more than six fingers.  Not sure what that is all about!!  :-)

Proud.....

It may be backwards, but the way my heart melted will forever be engraved in my mind.  Love my little peanut to pieces.  She was so proud that she signed Mommy's Valentine's card all by herself.

Addison was "too busy" to sign my card.  She doesn't like that her name is so long.  She says that Max at her school can write his name really fast.  Touche'.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

My little sickies have been working on making random Valentine's Crafts.  These projects are two-fold for Mom.  They serve as Valentine's gifts for our loved ones, and are also keeping my girls occupied during their crabby sick days at home.  Knock wood......I think we may have finally turned the corner in getting this plaque out of our home!!

And here is one of our final projects...The girls made "love bugs", also known as butterflies for their Grandma's for Valentine's Day.

My helpers/goofballs....

Even sick, my kiddos are still goofballs!!!

The girls have been fighting some kind of bug this week that kept them from going to school on Wednesday.  Tonight they have started to perk up a little!  Even with runny, red noses how can you not love these faces???

Side note:  After seeing these pictures I made an appointment for haircuts.  I never realize how bad there hair is until I start looking at photos.

Stir Crazy.....

All of us are tired of all the snow and cold weather here.  The girls are just itching to go outside and play and I can't say that I blame them.  It's just been blustery cold and windy here.  Both of them are fighting a nasty cold and I'm running out of things to keep the girls occupied indoors.  Last night I asked the girls to draw me a picture of their favorite thing to do outside.  Addison did not want to oblige, but Alexis drew me a picture of a snowman.  She said she loves to play in the snow, but likes playing at the park better.

Here is her snowman:

When I asked Alexis why her snowman didn't have a mouth, she responded with "my snowman is angry".  I asked why he was angry.  Her response, "he's too cold".

After I photographed her snowman, Alexis realized she forgot to put buttons on him.  I was then instructed to re-photograph the revised snowman.

New Friends......

I came home from work yesterday to find this on my kitchen table.....

Terry has been talking about getting the girls fish for awhile now.  I wasn't necessarily opposed to it, I just don't need anything else on my plate.  Granted they are only fish and don't require a lot of care, but I just don't have time to take care of anything else.

The girls were super excited to show me their new pets.

From what I understand, Terry was going to originally buy one fish bowl with two fish.  Then Addison had a melt down in the store demanding her own fish bowl.  If this was me, I wouldn't of caved in.....but Daddy is a pushover!  Each girl got their own fishbowl and picked out their own rocks.  Alexis picked sparkly pink rocks (you can see in the first photo) and Addison picked multi-colored rocks.

So, the new plan after Addison's melt down was each girl was going to have their own fish bowl and their own fish.  Then Alexis began to worry that her fish would be lonely by itself.  I love her big heart and concern for everyone.  So again, being the pushover he is, Daddy bought two fish for each girl.

I asked the girls what they decided to name their fish.

Addison has chosen:  Lobster and Scarecrow as her fish names.

Alexis has chosen:  Goldfish and Bubble Guppie (like the cartoon fish) as her fish names.

As I was getting ready for work this morning I noticed one of Alexis' fish looked a little lethargic.  I didn't mention anything.  The girls had another snow day today so they were still sleeping when I left for work.

Several hours into my work day I got a call.....it appears that Alexis' fish, "bubble guppie" has decided that he is very sleepy today.  Alexis told me on the phone that her fish is taking a nap.

Since having these fish was all Terry's idea....I told him that it was his decision on how to discuss the whole "nap" situation.  He has decided that since the fish have been in our home less than 24 hours, the fish will continue to be napping until he can be replaced later this evening.

Here's hoping the replacement can make if more than 24 hours!!!
