Spider....GIRL!

A few weeks ago, Terry let the girls watch Spiderman.  Ever since, Alexis has decided that she "IS" Spiderman.  She flies up and down the stair well on all four and sometimes tries to climb the walls.  Yes, I'm serious! It was cute at first....

Last Friday, while Terry was still out of town....I took the girls to a different park than we usually go to.  The girls had been there before but they didn't remember.  Alexis was beyond excited when she saw the giant climbing web.  She spent the entire time climbing the web and pretending she built that web herself.

I don't think I have ever seen the Spiderman films?  Apparently, Spiderman builds a web by doing this little hand movement?

I love this little peanut and her vivid imagination.
While I was really hoping for something more girly....Alexis has decided that she wants to be spiderman for Halloween.  I'm hoping that there is still time for her to change her mind!  :-)

Apple Picking....

This past Saturday (September 21, 2013), I took the girls apple picking at a local orchard.  We had planned to go as a family all week, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, Terry was unable to join us.  (More info on that at the bottom of this blog post)

The three of us had an amazing time.  Luckily I still had their sweatshirts in my car from last weekend.  It wasn't that cool out, but being on the "farm" with a slight breeze, made the girls cold.

Alexis was so proud of her "perfect" apple.

I kept having to tell the girls not to pick the apples on the ground.

Love these two!

After a bit the girls wanted to ride in the wagon.  I was ok with that.  It was just a tad bit muddy and by them being in the wagon, it helped keep things clean.

Love this picture!  They were having such a great time running through the hay maze.  It made me miss Terry even more!  I hate when he misses out on our "family adventures".

Love!  One of my favs from the day!!

Another one of my favs.

They wanted to pose for pics by the sunflowers.

We picked 16.6 lbs of apples.  I had no idea that we had that many.  We were just filling our basket.  Since Saturday, we have made two apple pies and a crockpot full of applesauce.....which I have to say is incredible, best applesauce I have ever had!  We still have about 10 apples left, that I think we will just save for snacks and caramel apples!

Side Note:  As I mentioned at the opening of this post, Terry was unable to join us this weekend.  His biological father (not Greg, his stepdad, the one who was sick last year) passed away early Saturday morning.  I received a message via Facebook, Friday evening that Terry's father was not expected to make it through the evening.  Terry and his brother high-tailed it up to Chicago.  They arrrived at the hospital shortly after midnight.  Their father passed away about thirty minutes later.  Funeral arrangements are still pending for Thursday & Friday of this week.  I ask that you please keep Terry, his brother Keith and his brother Mike in your prayers.  All three guys are having a rough time with this, since they had no clue that their father had been fighting pancreatic cancer for the last year.

Perfect Saturday....

Last Saturday, After our build event, We stopped by the grocery store on the way home to grab mainly milk, and a few other items.  As we were shopping, Addison mentioned that we should go to the park.  I was on board with her idea.  As we were talking about which park we should go to, she asked if we could have a picnic.  What a perfect idea!  It was shortly after 11:00, and we needed to plan for lunch anyway.  We picked up a few things for our picnic, ran home for a few minutes, made some sandwiches and off to the park we went.  Both girls were in heaven and keep asking when we can have our next picnic.

This was the best solo photo I could get of Addison.

Group photos are getting harder and harder to come by!

There was just the slightest crispness to the air when we arrived at the park.  We ate lunch and quickly ditched our sweatshirts.  It was just one of those beautiful days that you never want to end.

Several times this week, I've heard the girls discussing "our next picnic".  Conversations have entailed: menus, crayons vs. markers, soccer balls vs. big bouncy balls, and wearing sandals or tennis shoes.

Love these two to pieces!!

Cuties....

My girls are loving the fact that all the stores are putting out Halloween decorations (and even some Christmas decor).  They love all the dancing decorations that sing and play music.  I can only tolerate these for a few minutes.  On Saturday, we visited our local hardware store for another kids build event.  During our visit we were forced to walk through the holiday aisle.  The girls couldn't resist trying on some hats.

Yes, the girls are wearing sweatshirts.  It was rather chilly this particular morning.  By afternoon, we all had changed into t-shirts.

The girls have been having some rather serious discussions about their Halloween costumes this year.  I have decided to let them chose their own costumes this year regardless of how I actually feel about it.  As of right now, they keep going back and forth between characters in Monsters Inc.  It will be interesting to see what they actually decide upon.

First Day of Pre-School 2013....

Yesterday (September 3rd, 2013) was the girls first day or pre-school for the 2013-14 school year.  I can't believe next year they will be off to kindergarten.  My babies were so excited to go into the "4"s" class this year.  Here are a few pictures:

Love how sweet they are with each other lately.  They were holding hands while waiting to go in.

An attempt at a photo with my girlies.

Same photo we attempted last year in front of the pre-school sign.  Didn't work out so well this year either.

The girls came home yesterday with big smiles and had a great day.  We spent the evening working on their homework and "about me" posters for the wall at school.
