Father's Day 2014....

Yesterday for Father's Day we went to brunch with Terry's family.  It was a beautiful day to sit outside and enjoy great food and great conversation.  Afterwards, Terry's Mom took the girls to the zoo for a few hours so that Terry and I could finalize all our selections for the bathroom remodel without the girls running around the store.  It was kind of nice to be able to hang out kid-less for a few hours.   Here are a few pics from our brunch:

Strawberry Picking 2014.....

 

This past Saturday (June 7th, 2014) we made our third, annual trip to Spencer Farms to pick strawberries.  I gotta say, I loved looking back at the photos I've taken the last three years of our Farm visits.  The girls love picking strawberries, and were actually a huge help this year.  Due to Terry's lingering back issues, he wasn't able to help much.  Both girls definitely picked more than Terry did.  Our grand total was 29.59 pounds of berries.

 

We now have a nice stock pile of strawberry jelly/jam in the freezer, we made a strawberry ice cream cake and stocked up our freezer with eight large bowls of strawberries.  There is nothing like thawing out a bowl of strawberries we picked during the middle of winter!!!

This years crop (in my opinion) was the most abundant yet.  The rows were almost overgrown and the leaves were huge. 

 

You can tell from several of these photos that they both have their mouths full.  They definitely ate their share.  You can also tell how large the crop is/was....there wasn't much room to walk between rows.

This is the point where I wish I would have taken more photos.  We set up a regular assembly line to get the berries processed.  Terry and Addison worked on the cutting up process.  Terry cut them, Addison helped him clear his cutting board and kept running things to the garbage for him.   Alexis was my little helper and was in charge of the "stirring" process of the jelly.  Don't worry, I was right next to her the whole time.  Typically, I would never let my kids help with anything that involves the stove, but having her help was a lifesaver.  I let Alexis stir until it got close to boiling at that point I took over.  She was cracking me up with how careful she was being because she knew it was hot.  We pretty much spent all afternoon processing strawberries, but had a great time doing it as a family.  I love that they are actually able to help now!!!

 

This is our jelly.....minus one jar that shattered when I added the hot liquid and the two large pints that are currently in the refrigerator.

Hitting Balls with Sticks.....

We are slowly trying to get things back to normal around our house.  I will post soon about our recent water incident.  The last of the fans, air movers, and dehumidifiers were pulled from the house late Friday evening.  We meet with the contractors tomorrow morning to plan the re-build.  Once I can get to the office computer again, I will definitely do a blog update!!!

Still back-tracking a little to get caught up!   Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 24th to be exact, we took the girls to play miniature golf.  For a few weeks prior, Alexis had been requesting to go "hit balls with sticks".   I'm still not sure where she came up with that, but whatever!  I was able to score a groupon, family four pack to a local course, so it worked out perfectly. 

 

 

The weather that evening was absolutely gorgeous.  The first three or four holes, Terry and I were both trying to show the girls proper form and we were keeping score.   Right around hole 5 we opted to ditch the score card and let the girls play however they wanted to play.  Once we decided to be a little more carefree it was so much more fun!!!  Terry and I both took one shot on each hole attempting to get a hole in one.  Anyone who knows Terry knows how competitive he is.....we were trying to see who could get more.  Final hole in one tally......Terry 3, Alexis 2, Me 2 and Addison 1.  I'm still shocked that we were able to get the girls to play 36 holes of golf.  I gotta say, it was just one of those perfect evenings where we were having so much fun that I didn't want it to end!!!

 

 

 

While playing our last 18, we had a little bit of course hazard.  The girls thought this was absolutely hysterical!!!

And of course, golfing wouldn't have been complete without a post game snow cone!  Seriously was one of those perfect days that we are all still talking about.

STAY TUNED....

Please excuse my blogging absence....It will probably be another week or so before I'm able to catch up.  We are in the midst of an unplanned remodel to our house.  Sounds worse than it really is and I will definitely do a blog post soon full of photos and the full details.  We had a fairly significant (upwards of $10-$15k worth of damage) water issue in our home and are in the midst of cleaning up, knocking out walls, and completely tearing out the majority of one of the upstairs bathrooms.  Long story, that I will post about when I can find some down time to actually breathe and un-bury our home computer to download photos.  Our downstairs office/den has become the catch all for everything that has been removed, misplaced or relocated due to these issues. 


I will leave you with a few photos of my cuties.....These little ladies are what is getting me through this little bump in the road lately.  They make everything worth it and their smiles make every struggle 100% worth it.

Several weekend ago (May 17th, 2014, to be exact) I randomly took my car into the dealership for routine service.  As it turns out, the dealership was celebrating their first birthday, complete with face painters, balloon animals, Radio Disney, a food truck, a cupcake truck and much more.  The girls had a great time. 

 

Not the best photos of both of them due to the sun in their eyes and the wind in their hair, but I wanted a pic of them with their balloon animals.  Alexis and her spider-man obsession.

 

Once we got home, Addison insisted that Terry and I both refer to her as "ferocious tiger face" for the remainder of the day.

 

Alexis wasn't as cooperative for photos, but she was in love with her "butterfly eye".

Pre-School Graduation....

Last Thursday Evening, (May 15th, 2014) my little tiny babies graduated from pre-school.  It seems surreal that time has past so quickly that we are getting ready to move on to kindergarten activities. 

Events like these make me wonder if I will forever be the lone mother who sobs hysterically as her child walks down the aisle, or sings their little heart out, or waves the biggest waves to make sure I see her.  Not that there is ever a day that goes by that I don't count my blessings....but days like these completely reinforce how lucky we truly are to have two beautiful, healthy little girls.
