Dental Appointments.....

Last week the girls had their first dentist appointment.  Judge if you must....but there are several reasons why they haven't been before now.  Overall they both did great!  Alexis acted like she had been to the dentist a hundred times before and it was no big deal.  Addison was a little more skeptical and wasn't real excited about someone "washing her teeth" as she says.

One of the side effects of the girls being on oxygen for so long after birth is poor teeth.  I don't like it, but honestly if this is one of the few side effects we have, I'll take it.  Because I know this is going to be an issue, I have been researching pediatric dentists for quite awhile.  I wanted to make sure that the dentist was a comfortable, kid friendly place for my munchkins.  I can not tell you how much I LOVE the girls dentist office.  I love it so much that I wish they would see me as a patient!  I highly recommend Fishers Pediatric Dentistry for any one in the Indianapolis area looking for a dentist for their kiddos.    Everyone was so warm, friendly and patient with us.  They understood my apprehension regarding the girls first appointments, as well as they took the time to explain step by step to the girls what was happening.  They let the kids play with all the instruments and took the appointment at my girls own pace.  I didn't feel like we were rushed in and out.  And lets not forget about their super cool atmosphere.... When you first walk in the entrance, it's like walking onto the beach right off the jungle.  Addison shouted "this is awesome" a few times.  Here are the girls sitting in the waiting room:

They thought the cheetah was super cool!

I seriously can't say enough great things about this place.  Both kiddos got great reports from Dr. Katie and are cavity free!!  We were warned that we will probably need to start saving for braces.  UGH!  I didn't like to hear that, but Dr. Katie said that it is to be expected because of the oxygen at birth.  Again, no big deal....we just roll with the punches.  Here are a few more pictures:

Addison picking out her toothbrush.

I actually found it quite comical that both girls picked out the same toothbrush without knowing what the other had chosen.  They both went with a "Woody" from Toy Story brush.

Addison not quite sure.

Addison talking to Dr. Katie.

Addison getting her "teeth washed".  This was right before she freaked out and we had to hold her down to complete the task.

Addison all done.
Check out the cool background.....Seriously like being at the beach.  Complete with seashells on the floor and surf boards for dental chairs!

Alexis with Dr. Katie.

Such a pro.

Alexis waiting to get X-Rays.
We opted to do Addison's x-rays in six months for a few reasons.  1. She was already pretty worked up and we didn't want to upset her any more and 2.  This way we don't have to pay for two sets of x-rays at the same time.  The girls will take turns getting x-rays every 6 months.

Seriously, you would of never known it was her first visit.

After we finished at the dentist, I had several errands to run, including a trip to the pet store to get food for Jynxie, our cat.  The girls were excited to check out all the animals.

Addison decided she wants the snake in this cage.  You can kind of see it in the back corner.

And Alexis screamed at the top of her lungs in the middle of the store how she "needs" this chameleon.

Luckily they were satisfied with my response that Jynxie wouldn't get along with either of these animals.  These girls crack me up!  I couldn't love them more!!

That is a great post and I would go there too, if I could! I remember being so worried about where I was going to bring my boys (I have identicals boys who are almost 5) because I knew they would be scared. It turned out fine, but your place looks so much cooler! I'm here from M&MN, I'm off to read more!

We take the kids to a pediatric dentist too, and it is so much easier on them (and us!). I brought my twins for the first time when they were 2 because my Addison had a chipped tooth, so don't feel guilty about not doing it earlier. :)
